Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name for Winona Laura Hoowitz, birthed within Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. The actress is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Her younger brother is Uria. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County, California at the age of 7 years old. They didn't even have electricity.
